Chico Norte, 2250 BCE

Norte Chico Artifact, Peru, 2250 BCE , on the left is the earliest known depiction of the serpent-jaguar Andean Staff god (Haas et. al, 2003) or goddess.  On the edge of the gourd on the right is the symbol called the Twisted Gourd, which is the oldest theurgistic symbol in the Americas representing the archetypal complex of the cosmic water serpent, Mountain/cave, and cloud/lightning in the civilizing ecocosmovision of the New World. Photographer: Jonathan Haas. The image of the Twisted Gourd symbol has been rotated 90 degrees and slightly enhanced by contrast to eliminate the glare.

Shady also informed that in recent months they have identified five new fire stoves or altars that join the two that they had previously encountered. This adds up to a total of seven stoves arranged in seven different buildings of the 12 ancient settlements where they have dug.
