Amenhotep III did after all decorate the ceiling of his antebedroom in his nearby palace at Malqata[25] with what appears to be painted Mycenoan textiles.

have come to the wonder of how many of these tomb ceiling designs were taken from textiles!...the trade in textiles my suspect vector for motif diffusion in Old and New Worlds...the Americas named the "new world" is  a misnomer...cultures there, here, just as old...top of ninth...Pujols up...bouncer to pitch...one down...last season I went on about rosettes...noting the Mycenean frescos, or Minoan, I get them confused, that are found in Egypt...that fresco with rosettes inside the bull's horns is suspect!...brb...ground out...two down...

But the main problem with these frescos, as with many aspects of the palace, is the fact that it cannot be certain what is original and what was later added by Evans. In an attempt to restore the ruins to their former glory for the benefit of modern visitors, he hired artists Piet De Jong and GillĂ©rons to reconstruct some of the sections of the palace. Many of these restoration attempts were closer to vandalism and directed according to Evans’ own interpretations. Some of the pictures were completely made up, especially the paintings of griffins. Thus, it has become even more difficult for modern archaeologists to deduce the purpose of the Throne Room.

the throne was maybe painted too...hard to see, but the front has a crescent holding a boss, roundel, like those circles on the Lion Gate...the rosette between bull horns?...the paintings, as the site above notes, are modern...so the side by side of the 'epsilons' with the big step frets...see back a couple posts...is off...there's spot on...and spot off!...lol...anyway...the epsilons got me to wondering about the 'altars' of the Lion Gate...that for tomorrowmorrow!...Cubbies won...Cubs 8-1...Angels home tomorrow against Athletics...
