Curio: July 15, 2026

City Words

#Curio

🎶no dreams to report...one return: at intersection, light turns green, and I can't reach the clutch, can't move, get my car in gear, and expecting to get clobbered from behind...I try and try...and wake up...turns out, my foot wrapped up in bed cover, sleeping bag actually...I opted for a sleeping bag long time ago...anyway, that's an archetypal dream praralysis return...dream feeding off a real scene-my foot caught...no MLB games today...I use the word "curio" a lot...and a curio is a "pause"...many use pause..."it gives one pause"...pausing us is what the doomscroll is all about...In and Out burgers too...In and Out on 39 has the most gorgeous worker...doomscroĺl algo works "pretty girl pauses" a lot!...anyway, what is a curio?...thought this up🍿: an answered question that is still unanswered...ran that thru AI without "curio", "term" instead...no luck with "term"...

✨️a curio is an answered question that is still unanswered

Answering a question that remains unanswered describes the nature of a curio (a rare or intriguing object), or a philosophical paradox. It refers to objects and concepts that inherently defy simple explanations. The term "curio" comes from the Latin curiosus and refers to unique, unusual, or bizarre collectibles often displayed in cabinets. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Exploring unexplainable or "useless" phenomena is known to drive true discovery. [1]

🎶earlier, I had asked: term for an answered question that is still unanswered

✨️The best terms for a question that was supposedly answered but remains fundamentally unsolved or unresolved are an "open question" or "unresolved issue". Depending on the context, you might also refer to it as a "moot point," an "ill-posed question," or a "paradox".

🎶I'm "arm twisting" AI...

✨️Scientific term for an answered question that is still unanswered

An open question is the standard scientific term for a query that has been posed and studied, yet still lacks a definitive, universally accepted answer. In research, these unresolved problems drive ongoing inquiry and are also frequently referred to as unsolved questions or open problems.

🎶try again...

✨️a theory is an answered question that is still unanswered

You are spot on. In the scientific sense, a theory is a rigorously tested and well-supported explanation (the "answer"), but it is never considered a completely finished truth. Because it is always open to new evidence, refinement, or falsification, it inherently remains a dynamic question. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

🎶hmmph...clutch engaged finally...and in my vocabulary, I call a theory, a Reach...Curio, Pause, Reach...feed dropped clip of Julie Newmar dancing, covered with gold in Serpent of the Nile...
