Whales
#stradaeasel
Notes: Out and Back to Aliso Beach before sunup, again...this like fifth, sixth day in a row...stopped along the way at Wayland's Gallery for sketch of the Whale Wall...picked up breakfast burrito and large coffee at Laguna Jack In The Box too...then at Also, I sketched the South Bluff again, the one with the "palace"...the rocks there are like "cubist" rocks!...I'm trying to get a sense of how to stylize the bluffs and rocks...the white oil paint over the black acrylic might work-the white a wet ground for the wet into wet...something to the pastel look lent to by the underlying white...and I painted white acrylic over black acrylic last night, and messed with the white while still wet...most curious!...the texture of the canvas traps the white, so I can't score and scrape away to solid black while the white is wet,,,but, but I need to try this on wood panel with both the wet white oil, and the wet white acrylic...to do this I tried to get some of those rubber brushes, or rubber ceramic clay scorers, but Michaels has trimmed way back on the variety of things they stock, leastwise in Costa Mesa...no Generals Charcoal, no wood panels....hmmph...anyway, report tomorrow on experimenting with the dry black under white wet top!
