Lure Wait Watch Chase Catch Returnupdate: I don't know how accurate google viewer counter is, but on my blog here, a dozen viewers of a post is..a lot!...so when this post, Zelig, went over seventy, I have had the thought that something is amiss, like google searches are picking up a phrase or word...I try to keep posts here out of time out of place, with little in the way of reference to current things in popular culture, but I can do that, and have, in other blogs!...the text I've deleted, but saved, that was here, was more of the nature of my other blogs...hereabout I post pics and clips of fauna and flora...google searching memory will hang on, so my apologies to viewers that happen here on a search for what I deleted!, but saved..
update: and now the view count (10/29) is over 175...maybe it's "Zelig" pulling in searches ..I dunno,,anyway, I'll put back the text I deleted...generally speaking, if I ever have more than a few viewers, I'm doing something wrong, by estimate!..just why I have that estimate, I'll leave to speculation!..(oh,,Nature personified is wildly popular, but Nature, no)....here again, the text...
I thought to look up William Tyndale, the translator of the Bible into English, for which he was strangled and burned at the stake...he had a determined purpose to make Scripture available to every plow boy...today, Oct. 6, the anniversary of his death, was noted in the web 'this day in history' bit when I came online, and I diverted!...and from Tyndale to Cardinal Wolsey and Sir Thomas Moore and hair shirts and to Ivan the Terrible, and his black garbed black horsed cohorts, which he himself thought out of hand, and so had them disbanded, and put the penalty of death on even mentioning their name, which he had named!, and to a painting of these cohorts, and an image search of the artist, and painting in Omsk museum, and that museum's collection in google images, many fine paintings, and scrolling I came on pic of skull in display case, terribly deformed, like the Inca skulls, and others, and so I took a breath, and thought, here I go again into ufos, once more into the breach!, and happened on while doing Omsk Skull search what I once must have read but didn't take much note of, though I did come away from Herodotus with a fascination for the terseness of the Scythians...anyway...

While I was reading about Tyndale, whose effort did much to make the modern English we speak sound and look the way we speak it, which wasn't his prime intention, that being to make modern Scripture sound and look the way we regard it, which he accomplished too!, and reading about this, I thought, how like Muir! Muir was trying to 'translate' Nature, his primary effort the story of how Glaciers made the Valley.
But the diversion brought me to the elongated skulls of the Scythians, and of course the Phrygian Caps would have fit nicely over such long skulls! These caps the subject of my Pileus post of a few weeks back.
Now, the Omsk skulls were found in Siberia near a town notable for being an enclave of Hindus surrounded by Christians and Islamists, and I suppose some left over indigenous pagan sorts....
