Piton And Carabiner

Notes: Game on...on the radio...Angels and Cubs...Cubs up, like 6-1...at bat...away afternoon game...started early, and I missed most of it...Cubs 5-1..bottom of seventh...I found in the browsing a most curious thing....first saw it on one of vlad10's clips on youtube...vlad9vt, like a lot of Mysterions, glues together images, and snips of clips, from a wide variety of sources, often other Mysterions doing the same, and so is his channel...it's unique in that there is no narration, well, of late, there is more captions...but the early ones of his were like a slide show with music...I think he is Russian...but the comment threads are in English...and he gathers in a lot of things from all over...more so than most...I could list the Mysterions...their channels are much fun....the comments sometimes good, most often the usual troll stuff...not unlike the Germans in the interwar years, there is an interest out there in digging up the past to support a presupposition that some master race, Atlantians/Ayrians, seeded all the ancient mystery civilizations...that pre supposition will never be disproved...it has a die hard fan base...like a lot of other pre suppositions...and for some reason, the comment sections become places for these fans to vent...youtube tries to limit the outright racist channels, but, in the face of that, the fans go underground, and speak in code..."Patton was right!" peppers the comment sections...bots must be doing the comments...typically, a suspected bot has a channel with no video clips, or a few collections, play lists...my channel has clips from blogs posts going back like to beginning of youtube...I think sometime to make clips just for youtube...I'm not expressing this all very well...brb...a diversion from the most curious thing, but I'll get back to it!...Angels down to final out...they won Wednesday night at the Big A...went to game...Brewers 2 Angels 4...Angels make out...Cubs 5-1...hmmph...

Pakal’s supposed seat in a spaceship is just one example of what Anderson and others call “pseudoarchaeology,” which ignores the cultural context of ancient artifacts and uses them to support predetermined ideas, rather than test hypotheses, about the past. Common beliefs include that aliens helped build the Egyptian and Mayan pyramids, that refugees escaping Atlantis brought technology to cultures around the world, and that European immigrants were the original inhabitants of North America.

These beliefs may seem harmless or even amusing, says Jason Colavito, an author in Albany who covers pseudoarchaeology in books and on his blog. But they have “a dark side,” he says. Almost all such claims assume that ancient non-European societies weren’t capable of inventing sophisticated architecture, calendars, math, and sciences like astronomy on their own. “It’s racist at its core,” says Kenneth Feder, an archaeologist at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, who is slated to present at the SAA session and began to write about the dangers of these ideas long before most other scholars paid attention to them.

Adding to archaeologists’ sense of responsibility is that “many of these ideas started within mainstream archaeology,” says Jeb Card, an archaeologist at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. “We have to own these stories.”

Yet archaeologists have historically been hesitant to tackle pseudoarchaeology. As the field matured in the 20th century, archaeologists moved into the academy and abdicated the public sphere, says Sara Head, an independent cultural resources archaeologist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the author of the Archaeological Fantasies blog, who is co-organizing the SAA session. “We’ve created a vacuum” that pseudoarchaeology has filled.
Today, “Most archaeological research is unavailable to the public,” she says, obscured by jargon and locked behind paywalls. “But you want something from pseudoarchaeology? I can find you 15 references,” all easily accessible

"obscured by jargon and locked behind paywalls"...and expensive books, I might add...article is spot on...thing of it is, after watching vlad10's or Mystery History's hours long compilation of polygonal walls from around the world, one realizes there is something woefully missing from the school history books...Brien Foerester is out and about on his Egypt tour with his selfie cam...at the Osirin today...his amateur efforts really give a scale to Egyptian ruins I have never seen before...all the tourist reports do...and youtube has thousands of them...I peruse them, noting things...on the Osirin clip, is a background view of the 'pillow' stones of a wall...not only do they still have the 'cup' marks, but too, the 'knobs'...ask a scholar archaeologist for an explanation of the cups and knobs?...good luck with that...but the cups and knobs are in Peru, and all over...along with the butterfly clamps holding stones together...somewhere in Bible it says 'the stones will speak' or some such...brb...hmmph...another curious Bible phrase...Bible itself is kind of an Oop artifact...anyway, I wish the commentators all peace of mind, though sometimes their wrong headedness gets my hackles up, and I push back...the most curious thing:

I do too, and wonder if the wooden statues are genuine...the Cloud People were early on reported as tall, blonds with blue eyes...like in the Steppes on over to China, bodies in graves are tall with blond/red hair...but this is problematic, as red/blond hair, fair skin, shows up in all the races, albeit rarely in most dark skinned ones...I dunno...delving into that...don't want to...

when I saw the little house, I noted the step fret...I'd been revisiting the Cloud People for their round house/towers...there are some genuine young Indiana Jones types, archeaologists with language skills, who make shows for commercial producers, and I had watched one, the towers in mind...those were in mind because the island off Italy, Sardania, is covered with them...anyway, I saw the step fret in vlad's clip, went to google images, found where he had found it...everyone is retracing everyone's footsteps!...and more pictures too...one shows the scale...a man standing beside the little house...the step fret is about shoulder high...thinking on this, I recall vacation to New Mexico, seeing the famous cliff dwellings, and noting how really small they were...photos tend to exaggerate their height...like here with the Cloud People's...so, this little house has a step fret frieze, and the zig zag, which is very common on the others...and, and I'd seen the wooden statues, but didn't realize they are on this house...they hang from the top of it...and it is a curio how they hang!...it's like a piton and a carabiner...seeing how even modern rock climbers marvel at the Cloud People's climbing skills, it's no wonder the Cloud People knew of the piton and carbaner...well, no, it is a wonder...and the little house, just in look and feel, with the step frets, is like the Moche's pottery model temples/houses...see previous posts...and if this house harks to that, then the wooden statues may too...here again are the sacrificial human offerings...the naked warrior motif...hmmph...
