Notes: mkyd's deluxe breakfast. coffee...umped game in the afternoon...Starbuck's blueberry scones, grande mocha...and, and I had in mind to sketch, a memory glimpse,  the dogwood flowers from one of my Valley pics...a favorite...it got picked by pinterest...and, and I was trying a new charcoal paper...Stratmore's "laid"...it has a canvas like tooth, and is archival...from a distance the laid lines can't be seen...tougher to do one strokes as I have been on the newsprint...this was a 9x12 pad, the 500 series...I bought a big pad too...bought a bunch of stuff at Blick's, Monday...it was right near my game that day up in Placentia...they look like avocados!...lol...

Notes: I found Homer's charcoal sketch for Storm, and lost it...I wanted to copy it, see his "marks", but when I went from my tablet to the laptop, I lost the charcoal...what to do what to do...just winged it from memory glimpse...forgot all about the sharks in the oil painting...and the little ship in the distance...read the storm cloud funnel as a water spout-common in Florida waters...out to do a game umpiring...pastrami sandwich, two gator aids!...afraid of getting dehydrated, as it was warm...later, Starbucks two blueberry scones and hot mocha coffee...they left Ohtani in too long...his control was gone...way it was when he injured his arm...my thought...hope I'm wrong...gave up seven runs to the Dodgers in two and a third innings...5 walks, 3 home runs....brb...Dodgers 10-2 bottom of eighth...scrubs in the line ups now...one more Spring game tomorrow, then Thursday for reals!

Rex did that, but no, different, maybe...looked at ancient giant extinct birds...and found Stubbs...the animals from the New World made a wondrous impact on the Old!...

Notes:  Edgar Payne in his instruction list of possible compositions, call this one "tunnel"...I've been collecting different 'tunnels'  from artists...a post for sometime...anyway...this morning rolled out to ump my first softball game of the season...and of course there was a quarrel about distancing and masking and keeping the ball sanitized...I was doing the bases, so stayed distant!...fans weren't allowed behind home plate, balls couldn't be touched by non field players (making foul balls almost irretrievable!)...in the field, players could go unmasked, but in the dugout, masked...and in the dugout, the new three foot rule...breakfast burrito, orange juice, coffee from morning MKYD's...evening, breakfast sandwich, #21, from Jack in the Box...sketched in the evening...napped all afternoon, grateful to get the first game in!...the ramp up has been exhausting, going back to last March, and the shutdown beginning!

Notes: ...roll outs for blueberry scones and mocha, and milk, orange juice, dogfood, and masks...umpiring I need to wear a mask, as opposed to a gator...first game Saturday...thoughts wrapped up with the umpiring...come to think of it, umpiring is a bit "walrus" like...the computer air brush walrus I've posted before, and it from my old Yahoo web site...this is still on the web, but spam bots put a wall in front of it, but messing around trying to open it, it did open...what to do what to do...I have maybe a back up of it, but I dunno...lots of things stuffed away on old computers and storage drives...and the spam bot kept locking me out...the archived sites haven't the protections of current ones...so, soh, kind of in a panic, I scanned the old weblog, Panay Project dsharpness@yahoo.com, which includes an art section, page by page...took all night!...I don't think I got all of it...the ink walrus I did tonight from memory of the computer one, and walruses in general...I really messed up his face...but I was thinking of the bone structure of skulls...too much study of bones is a mistake, I think!...but I've been close reading so many drawing tutorials, and drawings, that bit by bit I'm learning the muscles and bones...for a lot of artists its a thing to know anatomy...like in super hero comics, it's always on display...for some things knowing the bones is a must...cows, horses...should do a page of "marks" made with computer art programs...and "marks" I learn is the correct name for charcoal marks...I've been looking close at Masters' charcoals...one can see their 'touch' and knowledge of what the charcoal can do...how their hand moved, the pressure applied...they often get stuck too, not sure how to darken or lighten an area...and they just kinda mush/muff the effort...Gauguin like the best, Picasso the next...the charcoal makes the process really transparent...no hiding...or going back...'there's no turning back'-Katy Perry...if one begins pursuing magic...

Notes: cheeseburger combo, cheese cake, large coffee...didn't have the newsprint pad with...wondered if brown paper would work well with charcoal...too smooth...but, I dunno...each kind of paper is different with charcoal...Strathmore's Newsprint I favor...for an archival paper, MiTientes Pastel papers...as it is, one can treat a charcoal drawing like a photographer treats a film negative, or digital file-make prints...edit: added charcoal ant with egg, on newsprint...a fine Myrmidon!...actually, it needs reworking...one thing can lead to another, and, one thing can throw everything off...the scene I picture is Ant with Egg in left lower quadrant...water from something in the upper right...dried up vegetation, a wilting flower, something like in the upper right!...this sketch, I stated with too big an Ant!...I even forgot its antennae...brb...better?

Notes:  something wrong in the immediacy of the web link...lag, and things won't open...and, and I'm getting "update failed" messages...couldn't link to facebook at all...anyway, anyway, I was watching a youtube vlog...brb...Botticelli: A Curator's View...and it mentions Botticelli's "St. Augustine in His Study"...another artist did a contemporary bookend, "St. Jerome in his Study"...in Botticelli's, Augustine has his hand over his heart, he had been writing a letter to Jerome, Jerome likewise to him, but Jerome died while writing!...And Augustine was divinely notified of this, hence his hand over his heart...brb...see wiki's takes...this is a really famous incident!...and the studies of scholars were a thing for painters...Durer notably in  his "St. Augustine in his Study"...now, now just a laptop hooked to the web is a "study"!...when it works...the ACER Nitro 5 has been working fine...fast...but now, I dunno...whole thing reminds me of Jefferson and Hamilton, letter writing, and both dying same time, or some such...MKYDs breakfast burrito and coffee, Weinershnitzel pastrami hotdog, new on the menu, which I didn't order-wanted Chicago Dog, and lemonade, fries...hooking up the printer, an app failed, but stuck around--what does that mean!?...finally  used HP's download...the other one fished for payment signup...all these apps do that...free, they say, until thru the prompts you've given out your bank and credit card, your "wallet", and like herded into signing up...fast food prices going up...Disney Plus went up a dollar no sooner than I got it...gas highest in three years...the government is handing out free money, and things going haywire...remarkable the study scholars do of their predecessors' studies!

Notes:  on the left are the two broken refrigerators...I took the doors off, and now they're used to store drawings and materials...the smaller one is beneath the "easel" ladder that I use to clamber up the bunk bed en route to be with Maya, my Dog, in the backyard...the lower bunk, plywood platform, is hers, where she sits and watches me behind a wire grate, until she gives up that I'm preoccupied, and takes a nap, or at night goes chase opossums...if I let her come into the house, she'd eat it...oh, how I'd like to roam in the wild places with her, but funds and circumstances circumscribe both our adventures...hmmph...in the center is the card table...atop: the lap top, wifi keyboard and mouse, the new laser printer, the scratched scanner, the multiple plug thing...to the right the lamp, always on-Maya's night lite...top center the big lcd screen, mirroring the lap top screen...and, and the work in progress plywood over the wall repair...and the windows, always open...so too much dust, mosquitos, and cold in winter...Spring almost here, and my first flea bites...Maya's ears okay...not being nibbled yet...thought is to wear cloth gloves with some kind of ointment and treat the ears and her tail when I feed her...the fleas gather there...Maya's nibbling one of those doggy bones...on the screens, my study test...the test is proving problematic for more reasons than mine...it times out if a screen saver comes on, or from the behavior of ipads, cell phones....so, everyone in my plight of time running out getting a redo...I read carefully through the rule book today...I lose a lot of time trying to comprehend a question, searching for its gist in the index, finding the rules in the little book...I love these CIF sports rule books!...like a vision of an ordered world where profanity, prejudice, and bullying are banished-a realm wished for for kids. and actually implemented for a brief game time, a couple hours...oh, deluxe breakfast, coffee, in the morning from Micky D's...two blueberry scones, mocha coffee in the evening from Starbucks...groceries too from the corner market...milk, orange juice, peanut butter, jelly, loaf of bread, ruffles potato chips, onion dip (a treat)...a bottle of Windex to keep in Silver, my Jeep...fast fooding, Silver gets cluttered fast...amazing how much trash from our consuming!

Notes: and, and I didn't pass my online softball umpire test...got as far as 73 before timed out...and already missed 22...test is one hundred questions, but there are often multiple answers...time allotted:150 minutes...passing is 80...I dunno...I get a second crack at it I think...then, then it's to remedial class...that was my pilgrim's progress last year too...But I have four games scheduled, starting March 23...hopefully squared away by then...sketch has Aliso rocks, Botticelli waves, distant tiny cloud on horizon line from my Key West sunset watercolor (from photo), rayed sunset, my charcoal take of Palm Tree...and I tried to see how the light is falling with the kneaded eraser...a scene cobbled together from memories!...from Jack in the Box, #21, large coffee, chocolate cake...cupboards bare, need to foray out...been in exam mode for two and a half hours...it's like this...everyone knows if your using an altered bat in illegal fashion, coach and batter ejected, batter out...but if the bat is discovered to be damaged, no harm  no foul...I think...and I cant remember how I answered...or the question phrased...defective?...gagghhh...and now I cant get back to see my test and answers until everyone else has taken it...even ones I get right, I have doubts about...if I'd finished, I might have scored seventy...that was passing over on the basketball side...which didn't have the time limit!

Notes:  ink sketch on the back of a Der Weinershnitzel receipt...I dunno...I happened to glance back while in line at PetsMart, and, and was taken-she surely had an upper torso, face, hair...thought to use the sharpie fine line to see if I could even get close to perfection...Botticelli's muse Venus/Beatrice...lol...hours installing the new HP laser printer...like opening all those locked doors in the beginning of Get Smart, the old TV spy comedy...along with the printer, I bought a bunch of little notebooks for passwords and such-half length pencils, sharpie fine lines, drawing board clamps...stuff I'm always losing/misplacing...but I got the study test printed out...pdf quick as an eyeblink two sided...tomorrowmorrow take the test for reals...

Notes:  rolled over to Staples to buy a printer-HP laser jet...I dont need one, except sometime when someone asks me to print out a document for softball or basketball officiating...like now I want to print out the pdf study guide questions, that I have the answers to, so I'll have that beside me when I take the "A"test, which is timed...I'm slow, and have been waylaid by that A test before!...anyway, an expense, but maybe I'll start making hardcopy backups of my scribblings...hot mocha and two blueberry scones from Starbucks...breakfast was egg sausage burrito from Micky D's with coffee...#7...comes with two, so I have one for tomorrow...did the Tree charcoal sketch...made up tree...
