Great find! I've always wanted to see one of these. We're supposed to have them at Fort Ord, but they seem rarer than bobcats.

Yes, common, but very rare to sight! I saw Burrowing Owls in Rosewell New Mexico long while back, anneversery year of ufo sighting, just back of our motel, and on my one visit to Death Valley, Owl was in the Stone Tiki in middle of night...went back to tent for camera, but no luck, and on Road to Mt. Walker, I see now from blurry pic of Owl flying, Owl's wing pattern, that RK Raptor I found beside Road was Burrowing Owl. Often I hear reports of Owls being hit by cars. Hearabout, I have report of Burrowing Owls at Ten Hill Hollow near Merced Falls, which I have yet to visit, as I cant find it!
