Tangerines

So, this morning I thought to put the bunk bed together, put it in my room, and too put the big cage for Maya, my dog, in the room too...thought is I can sleep on the lower bunk, with Maya in the cage nearby...she could just be in the room with me at night, but she eats everything...so thought is, she can be in the room with me at night in the cage nearby the lower bunk...hmmph...I'm thinking on this this morning, and dilly dallied a bit, and in just that bit, Maya got the cover off the waterheater housing box at the back of the house, and ate the control knob!...just gone...got some of the wires too, but they look okay...I'd gone over in my imagination everything in the backyard that still may be at risk, and didn't think of the waterheater in its metal box...hmmph...it's a Rheem waterheater, 38 gallon, and as much trouble as I had lighting the pilot when I installed it, I didn't have much hope...called Rheem, they don't have knobs...went to Home Depot to check prices for new heater...came back...took the control apart, and actually did very well coming close to getting it going...I could turn to selections by putting a small screwdriver in the hole...with the little circuit board free of it's housing, I could see the button that needs pushing...I heard the gas going when I pushed in on that small button. and pushed the other starter button like mad...but no luck...and now I can't get the gas to pilot to work again...I just don't know why these controls are so weak...any little thing and they are broken or out of wack...now the thought is to install another heater, but doing that myself, the whole effort could stall if the pilot won't light, and I have to call installers...best thing is to have the installers come out and do it all, and have it all under warranty...I think that may be the nefarious intent of these controllers being so tricky to make work!...anyway, Hanh came home near sunset, and I told her now is a good time to pick the tangerines, tangerine tree is all full, while Maya is in the little cage while I fuss with the heater...I finished with the heater, and went to help Hanh...climbed up an old aluminum ladder that I just set against the tree's foilage, and got the highest tangerines...for a moment there, cutting off tangerines with my wire cutter, it was very peaceful!
