Rock Art

Notes:  Game on...on the radio...Angels and Red Sox...bottom of seventh...Angels 12-2...there's not much in the way of ancient ruins in Southern California...but there is rock art from the Indian times...I can't recall hearing of any near Town!...but, trying to find out, and found a curio...

In his book Petroglyphs of California, Steward wrote: "It has frequently been stated that the petroglyphs and pictographs are meaningless figures made in idle moments by some primitive artist. The facts of distribution, however, show that this cannot be true. Since design elements and style are grouped in limited areas, the primitive artist must have made the inscriptions with something in mind. ... He executed, not random drawings, but figures similar to those made in other parts of the same area."[

Most of these figures were made by pecking, grinding, or scratching a design into a rock's surface. Researchers refer to these types of designs as petroglyphs, as distinct from painted ones (pictographs).

Goodwin up pinch hitting for Trout...123...to bottom of eighth...123...to top of ninth...so many of the rock art sites have been vandalized, that I haven't given thought to going to see them...best leave them be...once, saw some on that trip to Great Basin...Ohtani K...Upton ground out...Upton with four rbi today!...

Fletcher with a double...Thais on third...I wouldn't object if art restorers restored the rock art...that design is on the way to 8 divided into 360...what is that?...45...Sumerians based their mathematics on 60...and related, 360...364+ days in the year...the Mesoamericans knew this well...design is a calendar design...maybe!...everything Pythagorean is in that design...Angels made out...to bottom of ninth...123...Angels win!...put a halo over this one!
