Blue And Cassin's Finch

After Breakfast, paddled over to the Merced by the Fallen Cedar...Blue Butterfly on the way...pics...Grosbeaks too, but had better luck with Grosbeak pics at Lunch....not much time, and back to the Cabin along the Path....sunny blue blue, warm....clouded over a little at Lunch...and at Lunch, back to Merced...sighted Male Merganser right away...and the Female....Mergansers were floating with the current a bit ahead...so trotted along the Use Path to get ahead...and stopped in my tracks when I sighted the Cassin's Finch...pics....tourists approaching, so trotted a bit faster to reach the Mergansers...the light was perfect to get a good exposure of the Male!....passed the Fallen Ponderosa...and down to the River were it rejoins past the Little Island...and waitedwaited..had time!...but Mergansers chose to float to the Far Bank...and then paddle upstream the Far Channel....hmmph...picked up and returned, and by Ozone Beach, Finch was still about!...better pics...best ones I have of Finch!, as seldom sighted... report of Bear by the Little Meadow upstream from Sentinel Bridge...oh...Female Grosbeak from morning, Male was about in the Cedar's then too....but Male pic is from Lunch, by the Beach...by the Finch!....Grosbeaks pipe....pipe...pipe...then the melody...then they chase one another with longer melodies!...and they've joined the Robins in the Dawn Chorus....which reminds me....brb...Dawn Chorus Day is tomorrow morning!...hooey...had thought to sleep in!...here's link about the Day...

i always love how you let us see the birds expressions-i feel like i am up close and personal. nice butterfly too. wow - webcams make it look so stunning there now - this is my favorite time of all in yosemite. WANT. NEED. TO BE THERE. thanks for helping a yosemite yearning soul who is way to far away.
