Winter Wren And Yellow Warbler

The Little Brown Bird is a Winter Wren...repost from yesterday...a new Bird sighting..for me!....the Little Yellow Bird from yesterday, looks to be a Yellow Warbler, another new sighting!...very cool...at the beginning of the walkabout yesterday, the Warbler was on the Willow at Ozone Beach....I'd just picked up from trying to get a digi clip of Male Merganser on the opposite Merced Shore Snag Log....Green Canoe came along, and Merganser floated off downstream...I was going thataway anyway, thinking to go as far as Fern Spring, and followed along...paused for Chicaree pic and clip...and paddled out through Two Top Pine Meadow along the River...Meadow very green...scenic pics....Mallard sleeping at Beaver Bend...checked to see if any new Cottonwoods chewed on....doesn't look that Beaver has been about...quiet through the Forest...'cept for the cars going by on Northside...the West Valley loop trail is a great trail...flat...and scenics...but car noisy...and Critter quiet....nearing El Cap, two hikers called...I kept going...but they called a second time...so stopped and turned and 'Did you see the Bear?"...I'd been a little miffed at the tourist interruptions taking the Warbler pics and clip...and Chickaree pics and clips...and the Green Canoe!....but...I saw the Bear!...pics and clips...all these clips for sometime...Bear was eating Grass and tearing apart Logs for Grubs...hard to sight through the Trees...Bear went upstream, and I continued downstream....took boots off to wade Pond just before the Road....hiker came up behind..."You'll get your feet wet."....hiker tried anyway...bottom wet too!....crossed the Road and followed the Trail along the base of El Cap, past Bridal Veil, and to where it crossed the Road at Gates of the Valley...scenic pics...thought to stop for lunch...Breakfast had been a croissant and coffee...and Breakfast had been after noon!...I got too late a start for so long a hike..but had headlamp along...rv running generator at the Gates, and diverted me from Lunch into the Woods along the Merced...thought there would be a Use Path to Pohono Bridge, but it was a Tangle....found the Snow Plants...and two Great Horned Owl Feathers...heard Pileated....crossed the Bridge...visited Fern Spring..pic and clip...crossed back over to the Trail, and in the Tangle of Snags and trail cleared Fallen Branches, two Winter Wrens were hopping about...veryvery cool....a bit past the Meadow... trail circles back to the River...hereabout the Plaque...pic...and just a bit past, sighted Merganser again...oh!...forgot...I sighted Merganser when in the Tangle past the Gates too!...clips...second clip Merganser takes off...for sometime!...just a bit further on, Pileated flew over the Merced...then flew back over the Merced...the River hereabout is very scenic....unique views of El Cap....missed pic of Pileated...the Streams from Bridalveil diverted me back to the Road....oh...I had to take boots off to wade streams from the Falls (Ribbon Falls) on the West side of El Cap....can't remember name...this Fall, and Sentinel Fall, might be the most scenic right now in the Valley...went along the South Rim Rocky Slope, the Road on my left now...getting dark...clip of the Evening Chorus with El Cap...and that was it for pics and clips...paddled along in the Fading Light as long as I could...Frogs croaking, and some Little Bird that peeps like a Mouse, maybe the call is from Mice!, that I often hear at Sundown beside Trails...finally too dark to walk without a stumble, and sat and put the headlamp on....was still parallel with El Cap...so a long walk in the Dark....and a long afternoon!....but it was knockdown gorgeous for a hike!...oh...Feet got wet crossing the streams from Sentinel Falls...it was too dark to divert to the Road...so splashsplash over the slippery stones...and stayed upright!....that all was yesterday....today: Shuttled over to the Village to check for Mail...Owl watch on mini carabiner came...thought to Shuttle back, and at the Stop, sighted Bandtail Pigeon...pics...happy to see...first since Fall...and decided to walk back through Bobcat Meadow....quiet...but scenic with Double A Clouds!...at the Creek Footbridge, sighted Grosbeaks and Yellow Rumps...pics...this is a good place to see Little Birds this time of year...sunny blueblue aa clouds hot, with light breeze...at Lunch, noted how high the River is...Ozone Beach nearly all under...and Mallard Pair snuck up somehow, and were nearby preening...then I sighted another Mallard, thought at first Merganser, floating downstream way in the distance...and as Mallard approached, it warped right towards the Pair...see clip up for whatnext!....very cool...saw this same tableau the other day, but missed clip...yesterday, Lunch, salami sandwich and cookie, became late Dinner!....reported Winter Wren to friend at Last Chance..."Guess what I saw?"....."Wren."....'hmmph, howdja know?"...."didn't, saw one myself yesterday."...they're sighting in the Foothills...and with the same delight in seeing the Winter Wrens hop about and call!...ones I saw were quiet...reposted the Yellow Warbler pic too....
