Millerton Lake

In the morning, on the
Road, 99 North, thought had been to go to Millerton Lake...when showing Eagle pic to friend at Last Chance Saturday, heard report of Bald Eagles wintering at Lake...checked web, and it's so!... this Morning, it began raining too much nearing Fresno, and I didn't have much hope for a looksee....but when I reached Fresno, Rain let up....turned on Road, Friant, to the Lake...visited the South Side first..startled Quail, pic up....Canada Geese by the Boat Ramp...Coots about the Shore...maybe some Ducks too, but too far away...Lake is a Reservoir...Hills with scattered Oaks....drove East a bit on the Highway thereabout...Hawk, Redtail, on Post...pic up...thought Road might reconnect with Road to Oakhurst and Valley, 41, but Road was going elseware...backtracked all the way to the Dam, and there crossed the San Joaquin River, and on the other side, one way was to 41, and the other back to the North Side of the Lake...explored the North Side....walked about Rocky Point...Redtail perched atop Digger Pine..flight pic (right setting, but too far away, too back lit, too dark requiring high iso!!)...aside Road to Meadows, Kestrel....and backtracking, more Redtalis, Two Redtails in One Old Oak....and one more Kestrel....at Rocky Point were Quail, Acorn Woopecker, Scrub Jays, Little Birds, more Coots....I saw like twelve Redtails, and three Kestrels...last pic of day--Redtail perched atop Oak....last sighting of Redtail on 41 towards Oakhurst, when Rain became steady....and was steady all the way to the Valley...talkabouts at Last Chance during dinner...catch up on Valley news...three or four year old report of Albino Buck one morning in the Village 'walking across the sloping Road to the Courthouse'.....well, I'll be content to stay put in the Valley, and set rollabouts to the side for a while!...my sister's post up of Bakersfield walk: link
