Named for the city where the Spaniards first found it, the lima is one of the oldest beans to come out of the Americas, with remains dating from 6000 to 5000 B.C. Scientists recognize two main branches of the genus domesticated in Latin America. The Central American types are small, while the South American beans consumed in ancient Peru are of the heftier variety we know today as lima beans.

my reach for seeds in yesterday's post was stretching to gather in more lore about the lima beans warriors...Skaggs on mound...lead off hit...page has recipes for lima beans...they take awhile to cook, which is why I likely don't see them in fast food restaurants, my usual food haunts!...and the Moche decorated with the warriors...ideographic messengers...Royals make out...to top of 7th...well, I landed on a book page that goes on that there are lima bean warriors and deer warriors...always shown fighting, and the deer warriors always lose...and, the book's story goes: when there is an El Nino, heavy rains, sand flies proliferate and spread a disease causing skin lesions and disfigurements...this the Moche depict in the lima bean warriors...leishmaniasis...hmmph...the second season of showGoliath came up on amazonprime...comedians make fun of this detective/lawyer crime saga as likely the worst ever...I agree!...not recommended...but, but the villain is a monster drug lord that saws off limbs of his victims...didn't want to delve into this in blog, but here I find myself reading of a disease that disfigures depicted by the Moche...and leaving off yesterday's post, I was wondering if the 'little hands, big legs, two headed, three eyed' figurines of the Tlatilco were depictions of actual afflictions, which was noted by wiki's take...there are birth disorders that affect hand growth...some of these odd ancient figurines may be about diseases!...a dogear...and the book author goes on that the Moche depicted potatoes and tubers as people, again showing the effects of the sand fly disease...

hmmph...in the author's mix is human sacrifice with those disfigurements...about as awful a mix as one can have, disease, madness, murder...Hollywood's usual fare, served up in Goliath...Angels runner on third...Young up...0-2...K...two outs...Kinsler...ground out...to bottom of 8th...lots of Moche figurines on the web captioned as showing the disease...too grim to copy paste...recall seeing this sand fly problem in Middle East too...

one on..."Kansas city threatening to add on"...and do...drive home the runner on third...Royals 2-0...with the disfigurements comes stigma...people shunned...Hollywood does a dis service to people with disfigurements...maybe we all do...waiting, listening on the radio at the laundry, sitting in my jeep, a woman was wheeling her crippled up grown son in a wheel chair up and down the sidewalk in front of the laundry mat...usual strip mall/street scene...lot of people on the busses, on the streets, crippled...caregivers with their charges...a kind of lost forgotten people...Royals made out?...top of 9th?...thought to find amusement with the lima bean warriors...but find gloom...lima beans grow rank during El Nino, and become poisonous to deer...book goes on about that...something about the battle between the bean and deer warriors has something to do with the poison...Angels down to final out...Pujols up...two out single...Valbuena up...fly out and 'the ball game is over'...

The deer hunt was one of the most common and highly significant themes in the later phases of Moche art. According to Donnan, only captured deer and warriors were represented seated with ropes around their necks. He suggests that the Moche captured deer and sacrificed them for their blood as part of a ritual context in which the deer served as substitutes for human warriors.
