Ant Hill Hawk

Near Hart Park in Bakersfield is a place called Canyon Lands (think that's it), rolling hills, and a seam of marine fossils where shark's teeth are found...and the hill with this seam is called the Ant Hill...which it might look like on a busy shark teeth seeking weekend...my sister found a couple fragments of teeth, and a whale vertebrae...I didn't have much luck at all, but sighted Cooper's Hawk...clip up....this morning, paddled out to Bobcat Meadow and to the Post Office and back through the Oak Grove, where I took the Grey Squirrel pic, this and a few blurry pics of Sparrow were the only pics....windy right after Breakfast, but quickly quieted down, and drizzle...drizzled until late afternoon and a light snowfall into the night, warm....a quiet day all around, but, coming home from work as I passed the Little Store, I saw the Ring Tail Cat!!!...got the camera out, oh, I had the waterproof with, should have taken that out instead of the new camera!...easier to use flash...anyway, tried to follow, but Ring Tail too quick, and then I ran into Raccoon too!, again too quick, so no pics...but, I saw the Ring Tail Cat!!!....report Poppies are blooming thereabout, and the Shark Teeth fragments I keep in one of the camera bag pouches....

It's often said that the Carrizo Plain is reminiscent of what the Great Central Valley used to be and this is certainly true during a beautiful spring that is resplendent with wildflowers that spread across the valleys, over the hillsides and down the canyons. John Muir once wrote that in walking across the valley during March, April and May, one foot step would press about a hundred flowers.
