Le Grand

After early Breakfast, and a nap, gathered the gear and loaded up Silver...rolled over to the Village to check mail...friend thereabout gave me a headsup about Eastman Lake, but not very clear directions...'get a map'....stopped by the Cabin to do just that, and a few other forgotten things, and rolled down the hill....checked map in Mariposa while having snack, but map not very detailed!, and past Catheys Valley aways, it was a guess to turn left from 140 on Le Grand....on the Road aways, Two Hawks, Redtails, came flapping low over the Road right towards me, and soared up to perch on Pole....pulled over and tried for pics....Grasses are all green, and country smells terrific....Cows thereabout have lots of open Pasture to roam about....Le Grand Road took me to Le Grand, tiny town, and I asked for directions, but no one knew where the Lake is, so continued, until the Road ended and curled into a Ranch....lots of Hawks, Redtails and Kestrels, and lots of Meadowlarks....Sun setting, so returned way I came, and continued on to Merced-- Lake for sometime....sunny hazy sky cool, reports of fog in mornings in the Big Valley....made appointment for Silver's maintenance (same day as for my eye exam--need new glasses), shopped a bit in Merced, got a room, ate dinner at Shanghai Panda, and a sit awhile at Barnes and Noble...mocha and cream puff....'you like routines'...'i love routines!'....tomorrowmorrow, MWF, and other Wildlife Refuges near enough to get to with time, and I'll find the Lake!....Two Bucks, one just Four Points, beside Road by the Old Power Station....well, I was close, at intersection of Le Grand and Santa Fe, should have taken Santa Fe, then Road 26, then Road 29...a kinda roundabout, as no direct link from 140...tomorrow!
