Acorn Woodpecker

Geared up with the digi and 20x and binocs, and made the Big Loop counterclockwise...took a break in the Village...chili dog and orange juice...then made the Big Loop clockwise....and I got some good clips...of Ouzel and Ravens and Hairy Woodpecker and Grey Squirrel and Acorn Woodpecker, and Mama Doe and One Fawn, and Ouzel again...and put all together the clips made The Clip for post up way too long...tried...but got the message it was too long, and between that and the power failure hereabout, it is now too late to try and edit and start over and so forth, so...just one pic up of Acorn Woodpecker at the Woodpecker Tree....it sprinkled and drizzled and tried to rain all through the day, and the changing sunlight made everything just reallyreally neat for walking...oh, I wish I could get the whole clip up...hard to do the report without it!...a quiet walk really, but that just made each clip more distinct...one by one I'll get them up...for sometime....sunny cloudy rainy warm....

Wow. That's a good one!

Now the challenge: get one that good of a white-headed woodpecker. They always seem to lurk in the shadows. I never get a pic that bright and clear of them.

I was at the Tree in the aftenoon, when the low sunlight is terrific, and was like a spotlight on the Acorn Woodpecker, and Indian Canyon was shaded almost black by Clouds, which is the background color. Pic was taken with the digi...have clip too!

That's true of the White Headed Woodpeckers, I imagine. I cant recall seeing them out and about and posing lke the Acorns.

From Fall to Spring the best time for pics is in the afternoon when the sunlight is shooting in from the West end of the Valley.
