Merganserlings' Nap

Woke up at First Light and the Dawn Chorus, and thought to go back to sleep, and thought I might sleep too long and miss the Bus to Mariposa, and thoughtthought myself awake and into gearing up and paddling back to Creek's End...Diversion Channel full, so skirted through the Woods...Hawk flew over, Cooper, and perched high in a Ponderosa...blurry pic...for sometime...continued, with a balanced walk across the Ponds on a Fallen Log, to Ozone Beach...Merced up higher....was getting ready to take a pic of the River, and sighted Merganser and Six Merganserlings paddling out from the Diversion Channel, and across the River, just like the other day....and just like the other day, Mergansers perched on the Small Log over the sunken same Little Island...see pic!...very cool..went to Breakfast, went to Village for errands, caught the Bus, and went to Mariposa, and to the Dentist, and nearly napped in the chair, but wasn't there long, xrays and a return appointment for the dread root canal...hmmph.....with time to explore, paddled out to the South of Town, over the Water Tank Hill, and down the Dirt Road to a Creek the Road goes over....startled the Frogs, which made almost a Duck like call hopping into the water....Creek way too over grown to walk along...and there's likely tics, and Poison Oak, I conjectured, and returned along the Road back to Town...still some time, and walked along the Creek on the North of Town...this where the Garden of Native Plants is maintained, and looks very good right now with everything green and blooming....have some Bird pics from this walk to study....for sometime to post up....and Butterflies and a couple Flower pics...I didn't take too many pics on this walk, and thought while walking why?...on the web I see reports of variety of Bird sightings, and I did see several new to me....but it was a quiet walk!....Dirt Road went through a lot of Trees...mostly Live Oaks...and it was hot, midday....so lots of cover for the Birds that were likely being quiet, save for Redwings...lots and lots of Redwings!....sat awhile at Roadside Rest, waiting for Bus, and dozed most of the way back.....a long day!....sunny blue with hazy clouds, warm, and hot on the walk...one needs a car to explore the Foothills....purchased a Backpack Teapot at Blue Heron....and talkabout with Wolfie just before catching the Bus in the morning, with report of White Grey Squirrel....albino I surmise...visitied the Museum too, most trips include a walkabout, so much in it to looksee!....took note of John Fremont's run for president....a lot of interesting historical people have been part of the Foothill's history...

Oil Spill: narrated clip slide show by Louisiana AP photog--some of these pics are the ones in headline stories...
