Ouzels And Bear

Before Breakfast, hopped on the Shuttle with all the gear...woke up with the thought, "Ouzels' Nest is too low!".....all along, there has been concern that the Nest was too near and low to the Shore, and accessible to Bear, and wanton tourists....but I hadn't considered the rising Merced!...crikey!....hopped off at Happy Isles, and nearing the Nest along the Pony Path, sighted Bear coming the other way....dodged behind a Boulder and waited a bit, but Bear, Ozone, diverted and was walking across the Snag Bridge!...oh, I was missing a great pic, and hurried to River's Edge, leaned out, and got just a couple pics...sigh..so close!....Ozone wandered off somewhere on the Long Island....lost sight, and continued to the Nest...Nest still there, but only a foot or so above the water!!....went past the Giant Boulder for a vantage to look again for Ozone on the Island, but no luck....and went back and found a place to kneel in the Wet Sand, and sight the digi on the Nest...waitedwaited...One Ouzel was perched on the Snag Bridge...pic...and then Second Ouzel flew out of the Nest....missed pic, but after more waitingwaiting, and swattingswatting Mosquitoes, sighted both Ouzels fly to and from the Nest, and pics and clips...not many though...time... left off reluctantly, and caught the Shuttle back to the Cabin...morning was cool with overcast, but warmed up....much too warm I'm afraid...at Lunch, went to Ozone Beach to see how high the water was, and it's the highest I've seen, almost over Ozone Boulder....found a roundish Boulder still high and dry on the shore, and sat disconsolate......water sure to be over Ouzels' Nest....only hope is that the Terrain thereabout flattens out enough to keep the water below....but the Nest was only like a foot above!...sigh...poor Ouzels!....weather report says high water is this weekend...report of Coyote, 'ote', and Rattlesnake, 'sneakytooth', near in to town in Mariposa...'nearest in years'....oh...back to the Pony Path tomorrow!....Male Merganser floated by at Lunch..faraway pics....Robins, Grosbeaks calling, Brewers and Violet Greens about....oh...Mallards chasing about too...
