Notes: game on...on the radio...Angels and Mariners at home in Anaheim...Angels won last night...made it look easy...Angels 9 - Rangers 2...attendance at game down...had the 511 section to myself at start of game...few late comers came along...seems to be a thing to arrive in like the fourth inning!...Despona on mound for Angels...left off looking for milky way checkerboard in New World/Americas....lead off double...and moved over to the Old Word/Asia/Africa/Europe, where  I sort of know where to look...gone on about how goddess Nut is decorated with stars, and represents night/stars/milky way/Nile, and I know from the browses, sometimes she wears a checkerboard dress...actually a diagonal checkerboard dress...Mariners going nuts...three batters reach base...two hits and a walk...and, Mariners 1-0...no one out...a mound meeting...a lozenges triangular decorated dress...they just found a small rock with scribbles on it...it's thought to be 73,000 years old...link...along with it, the ochre crayon maybe that made the drawing...and the crayon is scratched with zig zags...sac fly, another run scores...Mariners 2-0...

Bead-net dresses were made with thousands of beads arranged in a lozenge pattern, and although it is believed that women wore such dresses in daily life, most examples have been found in burials.  These precious garments are extremely rare, as only 20 of them are known at present. They are kept in various museums around the world.

The stunning bead-net dress currently on display in the Boston Museum.

At the top, two recumbent black dogs on pedestals in the form of tombs represent the god Anubis, patron of the embalmers and guardian of cemeteries; between these are four djed pillars, or pillars of stability, symbols of Osiris, the great god of the dead. In the center is the scarab of the god Khepri, the form of the reborn sun god, for the Egyptians hoped that after death they would participate in the sun’s eternal daily cycle. The remainder of the net consists of decorative motifs in zigzags, diagonals, and alternating bands, in the tradition of earlier women’s jewelry of the same kind. A bead net of this quality functioned as an enormous amulet, as large as the body, creating a marvelous effect.

another hit and bases loaded...then a sac fly...Mariners 3-0...there's the border!...and right beside Nut/Nephthys in her fishnet dress...on top of Nut's headdress is a bottle...the bowl has a checkerboard/cross hatch weave...checkerboard motif could come from fish nets, and from weaving/thatching...everything Egyptian looks rooted in a time when they lived almost afloat in the Nile delta, like the tribes still do in the Euphrates' delta in Iraq...or try to...Delta there has been drained during the turmoil...tribes still do this on Lake Titicaca too...fashion boats and things from reeds like the Egyptians...

Nut.svg

The goddess Nut, wearing the water-pot sign (nw) that identifies her.

The sky goddess Nut depicted as a cow

Nut was said to be covered in stars touching the different points of her body.

(page has link to the Book of Nut)

The Book of Nut is a modern title of what was known in ancient times as The Fundamentals of the Course of the Stars.

The original name of the book, 'The Fundamentals of the Course of the Stars', was discovered by Alexandra von Lieven in one of the manuscript fragments, and published in 2007.[1] One of the big themes of the Book of Nut is the concept of sunrise as the mythological rebirth.

the bowls/baskets have the water zig zag symbol...the sun disk is in its usual location...lost track of game...think Mariners made out, then Angels made out, and now it's top of 3rd...I found a site that has it the 'sun' isn't our sun...(this reminded me of the other site I found that thought the 'sun' was our sun, but seen through a different sky/atmosphere brought about by a nearby planet, since moved)...site has it the sun seen in these vignettes is a star in the Pleides!...author has a 'jig saw puzzle box top' pre-supposition to work with...astral travel...brb...Cole on mound for Angels...two out...

The Egyptian tomb of Sennedjem has an entrance above the workmen's village at Deir el-Medina. It proves a long standing mystery of the Sun-like star theory, depicting the sun star in a night scene. ref

The mural shows a night scene with the souls of past great kings and the veneration of the seven star cluster, to the right of it a sun disc, the same star map found all over the world, a special star near Pleiades. But what stands out as particularly special here is the first time the sol star, which is a star just like our Sun, is placed looking like our Sun, at night!
... ... ...
In his 1912 book 'Legends of the Gods' the renowned Egyptologist, E. A. Wallis Budge included a startling observation that clarifies once and for all just why Ra and the 'gods' travelled to the back of the sacred bull, it reveals it is their place! The stargates open to the place of the star 'gods'!

Quote here:

"The Cow represents the sky in which the Boats of Ra, sail, and her four legs are the four cardinal points which cannot be changed. The region above her back is the heaven in which Ra reigns over the beings who pass thereto from this earth when they die, and here was situated the home of the gods and the celestial spirits who govern this world."
... ... ...
Apart from the real soul journey it needs to be pointed out that these astral travelling's seem to have degenerated into mythology and belief as time passed, people didn't practice it or forgot how to do it but the essence of it was kept alive...

to begin the post I thought to reach for checkerboards in the Old World...thought is I've seen them on Etruscan tomb ceilings...and knowing stars are depicted on Egyptian tomb ceilings, I wondered if the checkerboard could represent stars...and the Etruscan's borrowed the stars/checkerboard emblem from the Egyptians, likely through the Phoenicians...Mariners 123...to bottom of 5th...and, and there it is, an Egyptian tomb with stars as checkerboards...Simmons with lead off hit...

Ward up...3-2...well, here is link to google's images page for Etruscan tomb ceilings...so, so following on from yesterday's post, the search: checkerboard milky way inca , and such, I try: ancient Egypt checkerboard milky way...and such...and, not much luck..but, but I do know Nut's dress can be stars or the checkerboard diagonally or just a deep red...and Hathor/Nut as cow has star decorations, and that bowl/bottle on Nuts headdress has cross hatching/zig zags/water/Nile/Milky Way, and that border of alternating colors, and the Egyptians had a game they played on a checkerboard...so, I'm settled with that...checkerboards/diagonal or squared represent stars/milky way...in the Old World...diffusion or convergent, I settle for checkerboards representing stars/Milky Way in New World too...Angels make out...to top of 7th...akin to checkerboard, is banding...those Etruscan tombs have banding...and really really prominent in Egyptian artistries, is the banding on Pharaoh's headdress...considering where things are is what things are, the headdress is in the place where the sky/stars would be...overhead, literally and figuratively!...are there starry headdresses to be found among ancient artistries?...have one in mind...brb...Mariners make out...Ohtani up...bought an Ohtani #17 shirt at the stadium...auto club night discounts...his name in Japanese script!...ground out...this game is upside down from last night's!...Angels led for awhile with six runs, then added three more, and gave up a couple...Angels get a run...Upton waps a home run!...Mariners 6-1...

Nowadays there are many artefacts of different epochs which indicate that all these lattices, grids, rhombuses with dots, circles, squares, spirals were wide-spread elements of patterns and ornaments on ritual crockery, clothes, sacred objects, in the decoration of sacred texts of various nations.
... ... ...
Africa. Blombos calcareous cave is one of the most famous archeological site of the Middle Paleolithic, located on the south coast of the Republic of South Africa. The upper layers of its deposits, which is about 68 thousands years old, contained shell necklaces, bone tools, and ochre pieces with geometrical engraving.
... ... ...
Ancient Egypt. Ancient Egyptians believed that the goddess called Nut was the “Mother of the Stars”, “One who gives birth to Gods”. Her children were the stars which she controlled. She was identified with cosmic space. At first she was depicted as the Heavenly Cow, then as a woman Nut, as an ocean and even as a dome/roof, as the symbol of something hidden under the visible image, something incomprehensible to man.
... ... ...
Her body or clothes, as a rule, had a grid ornament or a rhombuslike picture (sometimes with dots in every square).
