Hawk And Ravens

Paddled out to Bobcat Meadow after Breakfast, with the thought to just sit and listen and watch, sorta the usual way to see critters!...sat awhile at the Elm...it does have one large low Branch broken....picked up and sat a long while at the Lilypads on the edge of the Boardwalk...was thinking sitting isn't working, and heard Hawk's call over by Flicker Grove....picked up and walked out the Path, and just as I came to the first Big Oak on the left, Hawk, Coop, called loudly again, and flew off towards the Oak Grove...camera not ready, and no pic...followed along the Road, but lost sight...continued over to the Post Office....then came back to the Meadow, and sat awhile at the Long Fallen Ponderosa...quietquiet...picked up and went back to the Road...lots of Deer at the Crosswalk...four young Two Point Bucks, one older Buck with much larger Antlers, but still just Two Points, or maybe the short one low on the Antlers counts as a third...and didn't- count- them Does and Three Fawns....they're all on the clips and pic...discovered I forgot a fitting for the digi, so headed back to the Cabin...and went to Last Chance for late snack...lentil soup, corn muffin, and green salad....lamented to friend that my Hawk sighting string was in jeopardy, just seeing Hawk may not qualify....need a pic!...to which his response was the usual..'daviddaviddavid'....paddled out with coffee and just the new camera and binocs...checked the Favorite Trees, and went along the Path back to the Cabin...and sighted Hawk, Cedar, perched in Alder at the same bend in the Path, and I took quick pics, sat on the Snow piled up aside the Path, sipped coffee, and watched!...was able to get the two flight pics up!...Cedar flew around to the front of the Rooms...followed...and Cedar went Tree to Tree...at one, a kid with huge binoculars was looking at the Falls, and Cedar was right behind and above...I tried to get his attention to turn around, but Cedar flew over to the Favorite Trees...I used the Cedar Tree Trunks for cover, and at the nearest Trunk, leaned against it and waited...thought to get flight pics...tourists were going by, and Cedar looked to be unperturbed, so I thought to take a chance, and went on the Path to the other side of Cedar...and had a good angle with good sunlight, and took a seat on a small boulder and waitedwaited...today....today, I was waiting for the tourist to startle Cedar so I could get a flight pic!...Three Ravens came along and pestered Cedar...I took out the waterproof, which I always carry in a pocket now when I have just the new camera, to get a clip, and was fumbling with that, when tourists with luggage rolling on the little iron wheels came along...one of the Whole World's top ten annoying sounds, and the wheel sound and Ravens were too much, and Cedar flew...was able to track, but the focus didn't grab, and pics all blurry...followed Cedar to one more Tree behind the Rooms...then lost sight...continued out to Two Top Pine Meadow...quiet...scenic with broken evening clouds and new Snow on the Rim Pines ....chance for the Horsetail Falls photogs....tomorrow storm is predicted, so photogs might not have too many chances this February...made the Loop...quiet....Two Does and Two Fawns at Flicker Grove...sat awhile by the Oak I'd seen Coop in, and reviewed the pics of Cedar...flight pics are cool...and the string intact one more day, day eight!...sunny blue with clouds, warm...two nights ago Bear may have gotten into the Tiki Can outside the Cabin...trash was all over in the morning.....the Acorn Woodpeckers routinely fly back and forth across the Meadow from the Woodpecker Tree to the Oak Grove and Flicker Grove...with their looping flights!
