Half Dome Sunset

Slept in, almost to one!....sleep debt needed to be trimmed....paddled over to the Village...Snow Chains came....too heavy to walk with, so Shuttled back...snack at Last Chance....at the Cabin, watched TV a bit, and a nap!....out and about finally at Sunset....Clouds lighting up with colors over Half Dome....hurried out past Ozone Beach to Cottonwood Bend...Young Buck thereabout...blurry clip...and arrived just in time for some pics....tourists thereabout too, and I diverted into the Woods....Clouds were becoming pink, and I know a spot to view all of Half Dome from the Woods, but heard hoo hooo.....diverted, of course!...as I neared the Diversion Channel, just ahead from an Oak, second hoo hoo flew across the Channel to a Ponderosa...pics and clips...newer camera has a crop feature at the lower resolution, and I fumbled about trying to use it...and meanwhile, both hoo hoos, Sentinel and Ponderosa, flew to the Perch in the Cottonwood where Sentinel was the other evening...camera was on the tripod, and all out of whack....it swivels in the mount when I put the tripod over my shoulder--need to get the new tripod I have my eye on!...anyway, missed pic of Sentinel and Ponderosa together...but still very cool to see...it was nearly dark, and tried to follow as hoo hoos flew about--saw Owls on the wing like four times--which was veryvery cool!...following took me to Owl Log...hoo hoos crossed the Merced by then....oh...earlier on way to Village, Green Praying Mantis was on the Boardwalk posing in nearly the very same spot of Brown Mantis--a bookend!....oh...another bookend!...I uploaded an old Sunset titled the same...top Sunset is this evening...and also earlier on the walk to the Village, Bobcat Meadow by Chapel Bridge was swarming with Ladybugs...Gnats too at the Deer House...pics and clips too blurry...

Link of the Day: It's the First National Fossil Day Oct. 13, and a new fossil museum in Chowchilla is opening too.
