ShackShack

Main Beach, Laguna Beach

#stradaeasel

Notes: Game on...on the radio...Astros at Angels, though Angels not home team...second game of double header, each team a turn as home team...Adell flies out...Adell had a walk off single in first game...Angels 10-9 in that one...bottom of second...I rolled out for an out and back at 4:30 am this morning!...envisioned getting at the ShackShack at Crystal Cove for sunup, and do a sketch...during day, no parking...cars backed up onto Hwy One...but I was too early...sunrise not until like 6:30...took a nighttime pic...plywood over windows has become ominous, but hereabout no Rodeo!...the bluff just South of Crystal Cove, (plein air for sometime), is sorta where Laguna Beach begins...where it ends and Dana Point begins I'm not sure...it might be Aliso Beach, so, soh, Aliso and Salt Creek actually in Dana Point...task set has been to do 31 Laguna icons for the contest...that my limit...but apparently I've done three form Dana Point...hmmph...see how things go...back in 2013 I went to all the Piers between Long Beach and San Clemente...just photos...that was my 'caught fish of the day" challenge!...pursuing a challenge is cool, and one can just make one up!...anyway, ShakeShack too dark, so continued to Main Beach...seven bucks for an hour twenty minutes parking...and I paddled over to the Lifeguard Tower thinking to get a bookend sunrise pic to the sunset pic I did...that photo a new favorite!...but, but the Sun rises behind the foothill behind Laguna, so no big Orange Ball framing the Tower and things...the out and backs aren't a hike in the Valley, but there are similarities...each has had encounters with folk, anecdotes to retell, surprises, observations...the roads are empty before sunup!...the beaches too...so one sees Town waking up bit by bit...I was back like at 9am...and slept and slept...it is blistering hot...but by the ocean in the morning it was cool...another try for ShakeShack?...they open at 7am for breakfast, 'bout when the Sun gets over the foothills...I've arrived at the steps I'll take to make a plein air...find the spot, do a sketch, go back, do a pen ink wash for values, then a watercolor for colors, and then, the big thing!...painting with oils plein air out in front of everyone!...I could go right at it, skip the preliminaries, but sure to make a mess-mud...it's no good to hunt and peck for things with oils...having done the preliminaries, it should be simple as a paint by numbers...or a Bob Ross!...

Astros 4-0, top of fourth...time for a snack...feed Maya my dog...bbk with game wrap...bk...bottom of seventh two out...full count...ground out...Angels 7-6...put halos over these two wins!

:)
