Bridge

I'm not sure where the class set up that day I did the watercolor sketch...a guess is downstream from Happy Isles Road Bridge and the Merced was low, so we were out on the Cobbles...or maybe upstream...I have reference photos, and will have to dig this one out!...I've puzzled over it going through google images...and thought to go over the history of the Bridges, some in peril now...one, a favorite, was lost in the '97 flood...not lost, just not rebuilt but removed because of damage...or that was the excuse anyway...the Happy Isles Footbridge, which began as a road bridge...for certain, a lot can be done in the Valley to reduce the clutter, but the Bridges I found to be like perfect...one, the Views from the Bridges, and two, the Bridges in a View...and the Paths need them for everyone to walkabout/bikeabout...not so sure about the cars!...anyway, I studied the watercolor sketch last night, trying to think through where I could go with it in charcoal, and today, went like nowhere!...missed the curve of the arch all together, and the size of the stones in the facing...the facing stones are attached to the concrete underneath...Bridges are made of concrete and iron girders, with native Valley granite facing stones...hazy and icky out today...foray to Denny's for breakfast and that'll be it!...oh, maybe find a basketball game to watch...it's Friday, lots of games being played...
