Your Soiree

Your soiree
My
Melee.

Becalmed

Oh, the Black Ship was going nowhere,
Only on occasion pushed by zephyrs here and there,
And the crew scrubbed and scrubbed the Black Deck,
Ishmael alongside.
Weeks went by.
"What's to be done, Chief?" asked Shaw.
"Well, we need Dulcinea.  Without her the Black Ship is listless,
And all of us useless." said Ishmael.
One by one, Ravens and Gulls returned from Towns with the same disappointments.
No Town dared to send ships
Least they wake the hibernating Black Dragons and bring again grief.
The wind was still, the ocean still,
And the crew just as engaged still with scrubbing.
Oh, and then two Parrots
Perched,
And then, two by two,
The whole flock reached the masts,
Raucous as usual.
The crew looked up,
And the masts slightly swayed
One way, then back.
A pause, then again,
Slightly more widely,
The masts rocked one way, then back.
The crew as one went to the rail side to see,
And from the West,
Long sets of swells were approaching.
The Black Ship rolled with each one,
And the mast tops leaning this way and that became more extreme.
The crew found handholds and gripped tight,
And couldn't see beyond the wave tops approaching like green liquid walls.
Finally they saw a wave taller than all,
It's crest breaking white, and a tiny sight,
A slender craft riding the face with twelve oarsmen.
"Ichi!" the crew called out.
And Ebony Whales breached from the great wave
And leaped over the Black Deck
As the Black Ship rose up,
Rode over the wave crest
And the slender craft
Thudded against the Black Ship's hull
As both settled down on a peaceful sea.
Ishmael looked down over the side at Ichi in silence, considered.
"Done is done, Ichi.  Who's your friend?"
Ichi was helping her feet find the rungs of the rope ladder.
Agile, she climbed right up,
Appearing over the railing to the crew.
"'Kannon!!!" they shouted as one.

Perturbed

Perturbed I'd say,
You're with me.
Stay.

DolphinWords

Notes: I wrote Perturbed first, finding sense from word rhyme with say...say stay...and I did another three lines with the same 'ay' rhyme...forget...forgotten...backspaced...and continued, but I ran out of 'ay' rhymes in my head, so resorted to the online rhyming dictionary...don't do this!!!...I did, as the three liners were goofs, but in the dictionary I was reminded of melee...an oft WOW term, and I was studying medieval battle armor...St. Joan and St. Francis are like bookends!...one threw off his armor to be poor...and the other was poor and put on her armor...brb,,,Joan of Arc was like born two hundred years after Francis of Assisi...where was I...oh, 'melee'...so I had melee, and took note of soiree in the dictionary, which I really like after checking definition...and messing with the three lines and rhyme 'ay' I found one I liked...kept it, discarded the rest...but retrieved the first one...it's okay...oh wait, that was the second...
It's okay,
Your painful
Play...
hmmph...anyway, would like to do something with 'cay' and 'fay'...thinking on it...where was I...oh...Becalmed...this whole scene a setting for the Ebony Whales...Ichi left escorted by the Dulcinea's Ebony Dolphins, and now returns escorted with Kannon's Ebony Whales...Ebony Whales reference the recent news story of a whale carcass washed up that was an unfamiliar species, though some unidentified specimens, and legendary sightings by Japanese fishermen, giving credence to the carcass being that of an unknown small black whale...the dorsal fin looks to be set way back, and it has dome on its forehead somewhat like Belugas...reference Kannon the famous goddess in India, China, Japan...I first happened on Kannon studying the Yangtze Patrol...early treaty between America and China was signed at the temple of the goddess of mercy, Kannon...like in 1840, and established America's right to patrol the Yangtze, which we did right up to Pearl Harbor...found site that has a comprehensive take on Kannon...and perusing it, I was surprised to find my Dragon Fish...for an art class we had as assignment to combine two animals...I took a carp, and a dragon, and put them together...little did I know!...this is a famous imaginary chimera creature in Japan and China...when I leave off being wordy, I'll post some pics comparing...let me think...cay is an island, fay is a fairy (not thinking of sex orientation, but that might by what the rhymes are tending too...let me think!)...cay...gay...fay...hmmph...Gay Cay Fay...Happy Island Fairy...maybe a restaurant on Kay West!...brb...nope...name not taken...my DolphinWords stamp copyrights all of this!...oh, the new whale might be named karasu, which is Japanese for Raven...
