Ranger's Bear Talk

Shuttled over to Siberia before Breakfast....to sign up for Shuttle trip to town Monday...I...I haven't been out of the Valley for awhile!....always cold in Siberia...but warmed up walking back to the Village...heard Ouzel singing at Stoneman Bridge...but couldn't get close....Ouzel kept fluttering off just too far away for clip....that may be the walkabout goal for tomorrow...to find Ouzel singing...picked up an Egg Salad Sandwich and Orange Juice in the Village...and mail at the Post Office...and went out to Cook's to perch on the Long Fallen Ponderosa...ate brunch!...the Meadow surprisingly quiet...picked up and went to Chapel Meadow to check on Owl...thought Owl was home...and even sighted in the didgie...but just saw bark!...got fooled!....did get pics of Acorn Woodpecker at the Tree With The Woodpecker Hole...when I got to Lower Falls, I still had time...it was a long uneventful walk!...and found a place to sit in the Rocky Slope near where Bear and Bobcat were yesterday...the whole Valley, on both sides, has 'rocky slopes'....and it's beginning to seem a thing to do to walkabout these Rocky Slope trails that traverse around the Valley...the background is so much better when a critter does show up....and finding a tree or boulder to hide behind helps too....one of these trails goes from Lower Falls to Church Bowl, all the time behind the Village and Suburbs...sometimes I'll go that way to the Post Office...and come back through Cook's or the Oak Grove...Ice Tree on the Falls this morning...and snow and slush frozen on the Paths...slip and slide season isn't over!...but warmed up and sunny and blue....clip is the Ranger telling the YIs about Bears yesterday...and pic is still from clip...and a bit blurry!....oh!...looking about for how to tell male and female Bobcats apart, I found this site:

Great pics today David. And the movie is pretty cool! It's obvious the deer could hear or smell something, and then when bobcat jumps out and the doe peeks around the corner, very dramatic.
We're headed to Three Rivers/sequoia park today, hope we can get some shots of the critters along with the flowers and scenery.
