Sunset Surf

Rolled out to Balboa, and put four hours on the parking meter, determined, I thought, to fish...backpack with fish gear works fine, but no sooner reached the beach sand, than a wave broke, sending everyone to pick up their towels and such, and back up as the surf foam rolled up high...surf wasn't that big, but is always kinda dramatic at Balboa at high tide as the beach is steep...and dangerous...many spinal injuries hereabout...watched a bit, and thought to maybe get sunset pics of surf, and surf spray as the surf hit the pier pilings, so paddled with everything to the south side...asked lifeguard for report--more surf tomorrow...and weather news tonight says there's a cyclone down south...sat awhile by the tower, and when sun neared horizon, tried to find an angle where I could zoom in from wide pier including shot, to the surf line under the pier, to the sun in the distance...this for clip...I got that clip, for tomorrowmorrow...kinda sleepy now!...and I did this a couple times, from slightly different angles, and on one, zoomed right through the pilings to Newport Pier, where the Sun was going to set behind...zoom lenses compress things, stacking things together, and I was getting pics, and clips, like the pic up, of waves and surf in front of Newport Pier...very cool!...clear windy warm...one to two foot surf tomorrow...had hoped for a big Wedge day...still worth a looksee before sunrise tomorrow morning...if not too sleepy!...and maybe tomorrow I'll get line in the water!...south side of Balboa Pier might be best place on coast to skim board!
